Spring has sprung around these parts. In addition to the vibrant pink azalea and delicate white dogwood blooms (I guess I should take a picture of those, huh), the creatures of our neighborhood are out and about, stopping by to say hello. Today, Lily met her first hawkmoth. She was quite impressed. I mean, even if you don't like bugs, you have to be a little impressed by this chap, the F-15 of the moth world. I love the hard geometric lines coupled with the velvety-soft look of the scales.
Spring keeps you on your toes around here. One day, it touches into the eighties and your fervently applying sunblock to that whiter-than-white winter skin and the next your hunting down a fleece jacket and skull cap to send the boy to school as it dips into the high 30's. Today, was a spectacular day with brilliant blue skies and very warm temperatures. A perfect day to get reacquainted with the frog sprinkler.
For those of you reading this from decidedly more wintery locales, take heart that when July rolls around and you are enjoying the perfect summer weather, we will be sweltering and, if not shaded and submerged in water, trapped indoors for much of the day. And, come September, when your leaves are ablaze with color, we will still be sweltering and only anticipating the turn from green directly to brown!
