Almost a month ago now, we celebrated Lily's first birthday. Since Lily is not one of those babies that would happily be bounced from one knee to the next at a big, boisterous party, we decided to go low key so she could enjoy herself with her favorite peeps. Grandma, Grandpa, and Mono were in attendance to watch her frolick with her brother in some newly-inherited balls in the blow-up pool.
I realize the picture I painted of Lily's demeanor may lead one to believe she is shy and introverted. In actuality, she is a fiery wisp of a little girl with definite, loudly-voiced and demonstrated opinions. And, honestly, her brother is such a good sport as the recipient of her "opinions" (and in her defense she has already come a long way in restraining herself. If she does happen to slip up, she is sure to immediately stroke the wounded area and proclaim, "Niiiiii" in an effort to show that she will, from now on, be nice.) Nose tweaking aside, they had a really good time. And, yes, Ben does wear some sort of costume on a daily basis.
Then, we added the water and things only got better. Guess who is a hose hog?
They dried off and came inside to Lily's favority meal...homemade spaghetti with meat sauce, strawberries, and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing. As you can see, she was not shy with the cupcake.
A short bath later and she was ready for some mellow gift opening. Her brother made her a special onsie...
And graciously offered to help her open her gifts.
Tons of super cute new clothese courtesy of the grandparents.
Not sure what is going on in the picture above...I think she may have tasted some of Raggedy Gracie's yarn hair. In any case, the dolls have been the recipient of many kisses.
Happy first birthday sweet little Lily!
